Carla Escot, Burnout Coach

My story

I'm coach Carla. I work with leaders to help them get out of burnout and into a life by designing, on their own terms.

Hi, I'm Carla. I am an ICF ACC-credentialed coach based in Singapore, and I coach in English and Spanish. Before coaching, I spent two decades in events management and show production: world tours, festivals, major corporate and sports events. I work with leaders around the world who have been coping for too long with burnout, and are ready to move into a life by design instead.

Nobody should have to go through burnout. Not for a career. Not for a title. Not for anyone or anything. The truth is burnout isn't a price to pay for anything, it simply is a message that some things need to change. Having lived it for years myself, I decided to stop the silence, and find a way out of it that lasts.

How I got here

The day my body went on strike

For two decades I was the person you called for high-stakes events: world tours, large corporate stages, festivals and sports events. It was 2024, just another typical day at the office: Formula 1 Grand Prix, four days without sleep, after months of no day off at all, my legs gave out. I was on stage right and I dropped to the floor. The audience saw a flawless show that day. Nobody knew the woman they called boss behind the scenes was breaking down from exhaustion, numb and making mistakes so basic they embarrassed my years of experience. By then, my health was gone, my closest relationships were broken, and the business I had built was fraying.

After the event, I deliberately slowed down and started sleeping again. In the space that opened, I looked at what self-sacrifice had actually cost me, and one truth landed hard: self-sacrifice is not noble, it is a wrecking ball that damages not only you, but everyone and everything around you. I realised burnout as a lifestyle is not a life, is unsustainable and also seriously unnecessary. So I found my way out of it, and moved towards the other end of the spectrum: I started designing my future as I stepped into it. I got married, improved my health, reconnected with music and art, and made time for the people I cherish. All of it has room again. My work feels meaningful and in line with the impact I want to create, and it lives inside my life, instead of swallowing it.

I lived inside burnout for nearly two decades, and getting out of it is the single most powerful and rewarding thing I have done in my life. Which is why, when I hear your story, I get it. I recognise the patterns, and the human experience underneath it. I know how much energy it takes to keep it invisible, how much courage it takes to talk about it, and to ask for help or choose change. What I bring to the people I coach is knowing the crossing from surviving to designing life is possible, because I have made it myself. That is why I can sit alongside you without judgement, and listen with care, as you find your own way through.

Why I do this

The opposite of burnout is alignment.

Alignment is when the life you are living matches who you actually are. It is not about having it all figured out, or getting rid of stress, or being permanently calm. It is about taking ownership of the foundation that holds your life: your values, your beliefs, your definition of a good life. When that foundation is aligned, everything you build on top of it holds. When it is not, you burn out, because the decisions you are making and the way you are living do not serve who you are. Instead, they serve someone else's shape of a good life: a career that fits your parents' expectations, a lifestyle that keeps up with friends who are also depleted, a definition of success you never actually chose.

A few months after F1, at an onsite briefing, an intern said out loud "I'm exhausted" and was told we all feel that way, no need to say it. I was the producer in the room, with the power to say something, yet I stayed quiet, like everyone else. That was the last time. At that point I realised silence is compliance, and I no longer wanted to comply with burnout being the price of a successful career, or anything else. It is never worth it, because burnout is showing us that we are in the wrong place or situation.

If you are still surviving inside the same patterns, wondering why no amount of rest resets you, or why changing circumstances does not help, there is a way across. I walk alongside people like you making that crossing, from recurrent burnout to a life they design on their own terms. Nobody should have to figure this out alone. That is why I coach.

What it's actually *like* working with me

Warm, direct, and non-judgemental.

I bring warmth and directness in equal measure. I will not perform for you, and I will not pretend. What you say stays between us. What you notice, we look at together. What is honest, I will tell you, even when it is uncomfortable.

The room is calm, but it is not soft. There is care in it, and there is challenge. You will be met exactly where you are, and you will also be asked to look at things you may have been avoiding. Nothing is forced. Everything is invited.

This is not a place for quick fixes or motivational push. I offer a place for slowing down enough to see what has actually been going on, to see how deeply burnout has entangled itself in your life, to listen to yourself and for shaping what you want to build next. If that is what you are looking for, we will get along.
